El Instituto Nacional de Formación Técnico Profesional (Infotep) y la Fundación Genera ITM han certificado a 35 participantes en Pedernales, capacitados para el desarrollo turístico. Estos participantes han completado seis programas de formación que les permiten satisfacer la creciente demanda de mano de obra en la provincia.
- Los programas de capacitación incluyen Técnicas de las 5s para la Mejora Continua, Desarrollo de Habilidades Esenciales para el Servicio al Cliente e Higiene Manipulación e Inocuidad de los Alimentos.
- También, se ha ofrecido formación en Buenas Prácticas para Bartender, Salvamento Acuático e Inspección técnica de Seguridad.
El sub encargado de la Dirección Regional Sur del Infotep, Elvis Céspedes, en representación del director general, Rafael Santos Badía, explicó que estas capacitaciones forman parte de los esfuerzos del gobierno para beneficiar a la región Enriquillo y a las cuatro provincias que la conforman: Barahona, Pedernales, Bahoruco e Independencia.
El Infotep work together with the Fundación Genera ITM to train the workforce that can meet the job opportunities arising from the development of Cabo Rojo and the entire Pedernales province.
La Fundación Genera’s director, Lludy Terrero, emphasized that the certified participants are fully equipped to be hired by any company within the Port Cabo Rojo project in Pedernales and to enter the job market anywhere in the country.
Ingrid Sobodka, training coordinator at Fundación Genera ITM, stated that the main goal of their programs is to involve the entire community in the development of their region for the benefit of the people.
Capacitated participants' activities
The certified participants were part of the team that served the Nieuw Amsterdan cruise ship, accommodating up to 2,106 visitors and 929 crew members, who enjoyed various ecological destinations in Pedernales and the Enriquillo region.
Significant progress by Infotep in Pedernales
From 2021 to 2023, Infotep has impacted over 6,480 participants through 350 training programs, totaling 38,454 instructional hours. Key areas of demand include Hospitality and Tourism, Administration, Management and Finance, Food Preparation, Health and Wellness, Commerce and Services, Languages, Maintenance, among others.
In partnership with ITM, the company in charge of the Cabo Rojo Port construction, an extensive training program was carried out in 2023 to prepare individuals in the communities to work in the Port’s activities, alongside the permanent staff at the company.
Training provided under this program includes Bartender, Room Service, Handling and Safety Inspection, First Aid, and more.
